What kind of events do you do?
We’ve been invited to lots of different things- from weddings to nursing home birthday parties to canoe race festivals, it’s always an honour to be part of making something special. If you’ve got an idea or a request, we’d love to see how we can help to make it happen.
Where do you travel to?
Having traveled cross country with our Boler four times over, she’s a bit tired of long road trips (Laura too!) but if you’re within a 2-hour radius from our non-mobile home in Chelsea, QC then that kind of trip we can do. And if you’re a bit farther out, please don’t let that stop you from reaching out. We’ll always do our best to see what we can do.
What do you need for set up?
Our Boler is 10ft long, but with the hitch it measures out to be 13ft in length and is 6 ft wide. We require a power hook up that is not shared with anyone else (the last thing we want for you are memories of blown fuses.) If there is no access to power, we do have our own generator and long extension cord which allows us to run the generator 20 ft away from our set up so we aren’t being obnoxiously noisy. We’ll leave that to the guest you felt you had to invite ;) If we do need to use our generator, we charge a small fee to cover the use of gas. We need about an hour before serving to get set up and make sure our iron is warmed up and ready for all that good pressing.
How long does it take to make stroopwafels fresh to order?
We (“we” being Jelmer) can press two cookies at a time and together they take about a minute and a half to bake, cut and line with caramel for people to enjoy.
What about allergies and food intolerances?
Unfortunately we love butter, eggs and flour too much to accommodate anyone who is vegan or gluten free, but we’re happy to say we’re nut free in every way.
When do you usually serve if it’s at a wedding?
We’re ready to roll for whenever you see best- we’ve been invited to serve post ceremony, as dessert after dinner and as a late-night mid dance party snack. When it comes to cookies, there’s really no bad option!
I can’t have the Boler at our event- can you still supply stroopwafels?
Absolutely! We know with some venues having the Boler with us baking fresh on site just doesn’t work, but then no stroopwafels doesn’t work either. We’ll follow your creative lead, but some asks we’ve had are to make wedding favours, cookie trays, housewarming packages and staff appreciation gifts.
How do I secure my booking?
Let’s get that date in the books! Especially because Jel is horrible with dates, but he does use a calendar! Fill out the form below, and once we’ve confirmed your request we’ll send you a contract for signing and ask for a small deposit to secure the event (usually the deposit is the cost of our mileage to come to the event @ .50/km round trip.) Once that’s all good, we’ll put it in pen on the calendar and continue to be in touch with you to work out all the details of how we make this magical.
